The Seven-Ups
William Friedkin's 'The Seven-Ups' delivers a gritty, no-nonsense police procedural that, while lacking 'Rorschach's' psychological introspection, mirrors its relentless pursuit and the moral compromises made in the name of a mission. Roy Scheider's character, Buddy Manucci, operates in a morally grey zone, much like Luke Antony, driven by an almost obsessive need to bring down criminals. The film's raw, visceral energy and its unflinching look at the underbelly of crime resonate with the darker, more grounded aspects of 'Rorschach's' world, where justice is often a brutal, messy affair. It's a masterclass in urban tension and procedural intensity.
