Gajab Raat
Gajab Raat attempts to weave a narrative of supernatural dread, set against the backdrop of a secluded, ancient estate. The film leans heavily on atmospheric tension and psychological unease, rather than overt jump scares, which is a commendable approach for Hindi horror. Its strength lies in its ability to slowly unravel a mystery steeped in local folklore, creating a pervasive sense of impending doom. While the pacing can occasionally falter, the performances are generally solid, particularly in conveying the characters' descent into paranoia. It aims for a cerebral scare, exploring themes of inherited trauma and the thin veil between reality and the spectral. A promising, albeit imperfect, entry into the genre.
